Yesterday there was a collapse in part of the icefall route, and the SPCC Ice Fall Doctors invited Damian to assist them re-opening the route. Damian and Willie might be the only westerners who have ever worked along side the icefall doctors over the years, we are truly honored. The infamous Khumbu Icefall is a scary but beautiful place. It’s a river of ice moving down-valley with hollow gaps underneath. The Icefall Doctors have the task of using their unsurpassed knowledge of this part of the glacier to find the most reliable route through the maze.
